How it works

  1. Paste the store URL (the homepage is enough).
  2. We load the storefront and read the theme Shopify itself declares on the page.
  3. You get the theme name, the theme it was built from, its version, and whether it comes from the Shopify Theme Store.

Questions

Why does the theme name look odd, like “Dawn - copy”?

Merchants rename their theme when they duplicate it. We show the theme it was built from (for example Dawn) and, below it, the name the merchant gave their copy.

What does “custom or third-party theme” mean?

The theme is not listed in the Shopify Theme Store. It was built by an agency, bought from another marketplace, or made in-house.

Why is no theme found for some stores?

Stores on a headless storefront (their own frontend talking to Shopify) have no Shopify theme on the page. Some very large stores also block automated visits.
